818 PALAZA

A tenant redemise reimagined as an urban threshold in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles. The design confronts the constraint of a hyper-active pedestrian sidewalk by elevating the dining floor into a subtle platform—an infrastructural plinth that negotiates distance without disconnecting. A linear buffer of planters creates a soft territorial edge, while a fully operable storefront dissolves the boundary altogether, producing a hybrid condition where interior and city co-author the atmosphere. The result is a restaurant space that behaves as both room and street—an urban living room calibrated to the pulse of DTLA.
